Friend's tribute to 'lovely' UK medic shot in Afghanistan

The friend of a British aid worker who was shot dead in Afghanistan has described her as ''a lovely person to work with''.

Dr Karen Woo, 36, from London, had been working with Christian charity the International Assistance Mission, providing eye care in remote villages.

Six Americans, a German and two Afghan interpreters were also killed.

Dr Woo's friend Firuz Rahimi said she had been ''excited'' about the trip, but knew it would be difficult.
