Boris Johnson saddened by violence at student demo

Violence has erupted at a demonstration in central London against plans to raise university tuition fees in England.

Tens of thousands of students and lecturers marched peacefully through Westminster but when they reached the Conservative Party headquarters at Millbank a small minority smashed windows, lit fires and threw missiles at police.

Up to 14 people were injured, and police made more than 30 arrests.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson gave his reaction to the BBC.
