Water cannons not needed for student protests says May

Home Secretary Theresa May has told members of the House of Commons that she did not believe the use of water cannon was needed.

She went on to say that the use of water cannons had no yet been approved by the Home Office for use in England and Wales.

Thousands of students marched through the streets of London last Thursday to protest the government's plans to increase tuition fees by £9,000.
