Prime Minister David Cameron's pledge to stranded Britons

David Cameron vowed today that the government will do "everything we can" to evacuate hundreds of Britons still stranded in chaos-stricken Libya.

Scores of Britons are still in Libya after increased efforts saw about 500 leave by plane and boat on Thursday amid continuing protests.

The comments follow an emergency planning committee of the National Security Council and Cobra to discuss the crisis in Libya.
