£2bn benefits overpaid to claimants

The government has not got to grips with errors in the benefits payments system, according to a committee of MPs.

They say more than £2bn was overpaid - and more than £1bn underpaid - to welfare claimants in the past year.

Ministers say changes they are bringing in will simplify the system.
