Public sector workers 'to pay more for pensions'

The Government has set out proposals for radical changes to public sector pensions which would see workers pay more in contributions, retire later in life and earn less in retirement.

The former Labour Minister, Lord Hutton, who carried out the report, said that everyone had to share the burden of increased costs caused by people living longer or we would be "heading for the rocks".

Unions leaders have reacted angrily to the proposals.

Hugh Pym reports.
