State pension age changes 'unfair to women'

Changes to the women's state pension age is creating divisions at Westminster, with growing numbers of MPs calling on the government to reconsider its plans.

The government wants to reform public sector pensions, meaning a later retirement age of 66 for men and women by 2020.

The government claims the current pension system is unaffordable in the long term, with increased life expectancy.

Michelle Mitchell from the charity Age UK believes the changes are particularly unfair to women, calling for a longer time scale to allow time to plan for later retirement.
