Peter Hain MP: 'Debris and sludge hampering rescue'
Police have confirmed that one miner has been found dead in a flooded colliery near Swansea. His identity has not been revealed. Rescuers are continuing to serach for three other men.
Water burst into the Gleision drift mine when a retaining wall gave way.
Seven men were in the tunnels, three of them managed to escape, though one was badly injured and is now seriously ill in hospital.
The rescue co-ordinators hope some of the men, all experienced miners, will have found shelter beyond the flooded section.
Neath MP Peter Hain, who spent the night with the families of those affected, said conditions inside the mine were tough.
