Red squirrel conservation project ends

A project to help protect red squirrels is finally coming to an end on an island off the Dorset coast.

For decades, volunteers have been chopping down enormous rhododendron bushes on Brownsea Island, because they stop other trees and plants - that provide food for the squirrels - growing.

The Dorset Wildlife Trust has finally cleared its land of rhododendrons, and says red squirrels are flourishing as a result.

Richard Westcott reports.
