M5 eyewitness's mother directed rescue from ambulance HQ

The mother of a woman who witnessed Friday's M5 pile-up, was co-ordinating the rescue in her role with the ambulance service.

Katherine Lane and her boyfriend Tom Hamill were driving on the motorway when they saw the crash, in which 7 people died, take place. They pulled over and helped victims to safety.

Katherine called her mother, who works for the South West Ambulance Service, to discover she was also helping co-ordinated the rescue operation.
