Border control timings not always good enough, says BAA

Airlines have warned the home secretary that Britain "risks gridlock" at airports over the Easter break, because of staff shortages.

The British Air Transport Association has written to Theresa May with 11 airlines' concerns over possible delays at peak travel times such as Easter.

They say there are too few border staff carrying out security checks.

John Holland-Kaye, Commercial Director at BAA, said that it should take up to five minutes to get through security, but that immigration was a different matter.
