Fuel tanker drivers reject latest deal

Fuel tanker drivers, who have been threatening to strike over safety, pay and working conditions, have rejected the latest deal aimed at averting industrial action.

Their ballot and the government's response was followed by panic buying last month, as people feared petrol and diesel shortages over the Easter holidays.

Diana Holland, Unite's assistant general secretary, said: "We are still wanting to talk, and we are calling for further talks because we feel we are able to reach a solution in this dispute and we are determined to do so."
