Leveson: Culture secretary 'not Murdoch's cheerleader'

Former News International chairman James Murdoch has been giving evidence at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards.

He was quizzed over his contact with politicians before and during News Corp's bid for the remaining shares in BSkyB.

The inquiry considered emails by Frederic Michel, News Corp head of public affairs, including one sent after the BBC's business editor Robert Peston posted a blog suggesting Ofcom was to review the bid.

Downing Street has issued a statement giving full support to Jeremy Hunt for his role in the BSkyB sell off decision.
