Leveson Inquiry: Frederic Michel 'over-egged' position, says Brooks
Rebekah Brooks, the former chief executive of News International, has been giving evidence at the Leveson Inquiry into press ethics.
Mrs Brooks said she thought the firm's PR chief Frederic Michel may have "over-egged his position" during News Corp's bid for BSkyB, but that he was doing his job.
It follows revelations that during the bid process, Mr Michel was in contact with the aide of Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who was tasked with deciding if such a takeover could go ahead.
The culture secretary himself has said he "strictly followed due process" in the matter and denied that News Corp had any "back channel" of influence with his office.
