Leveson and Gove spar over freedom of speech

Michael Gove has made a staunch defence of the media's right to freedom of expression, saying that the "burden of proof" should be on those who wish to regulate the industry.

The education secretary and former journalist was speaking as he appeared before Lord Justice Leveson's inquiry in press standards.

In response, the inquiry chair said he "did not need to be told about the importance of free speech".
