Rich pensioner benefit payments put in spotlight
Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has said there is "a debate to be had" with regard to age-related universal benefits for pensioners with assets of more than £1m.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Clegg questioned whether free TV licences and bus passes should be given to the very well off, "subsidised by normal workers, paying normal taxes and struggling to make ends meet".
He also said that the welfare budget as a whole could not be immune from efforts to find government budget savings after the next general election in 2015.
