MoD promises £350m for Trident replacement design work
The Defence Secretary, Philip Hammond, has announced investment of £350m to fund design work on the next generation of nuclear submarines in a move which has highlighted disagreements within the coalition.
During a visit to the Faslane base, Mr Hammond also described the Scottish National Party's plans to remove nuclear weapons from the Clyde as "irresponsible".
