Leveson report: Cameron 'not convinced statutory press regulation'

David Cameron has given his backing to Lord Justice Leveson's report into media ethics and practices and called for the press to implement the proposals.

He told MPs that he was wary of any legislation to govern the press.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister outlined why he supported the Leveson recommendations, which include the press setting up an arbitration service, a speedy complaints handling service, and an independent body with the ability to fine newspapers up to £1 million.
