IPCC: Police respond to MPs' findings

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has rejected the suggestion that the Independent Police Complaints Commissions (IPCC) should have statutory powers to enforce its recommendations.

A report by the Home Affairs Committee found the IPCC was "woefully under-equipped" and was struggling to meet expectations.

Chief Constable Michael Cunningham from the ACPO said he took the findings "very seriously", but insisted the IPCC's powers should not be "enshrined in law", as suggested.
