Is Beeching's legacy in reverse?

Fifty years after Dr Beeching's controversial report into the reshaping of British railways is published, some of his decisions are now being reversed.

Beeching who was recruited by the government to make the railways profitable again, recommended the closure of thousands of stations and hundreds of branch lines.

Half a century later, one of the most dramatic Beeching cuts is being reversed, restoring the line linking Edinburgh with the Scottish Borders.
