Benefit system changes due to take effect

People in social housing deemed to have spare rooms will be among the first to feel the impact of the changes to the welfare system, coming in from Monday.

The next few weeks will also see the introduction of an overall cap on benefits and the replacement of the Disability Living Allowance.

The changes have been criticised by church figures as targeting the most vulnerable in society.
