Prison van ambushed in Salford

Two prisoners have escaped from custody after five men wearing balaclavas ambushed a prison transport van heading into Manchester.

Witnesses reported seeing the men running away from a van with its windows smashed on Regent Road in Salford shortly after 09:00 BST.

One man was then seen without a helmet on the back of a motorbike as it was ridden off at high speed from the scene.
