Overseas pensions: 'When I die my wife will get nothing'

The government is planning to stop people who live abroad from receiving a British state pension based solely on the employment record of their husband or wife.

The measure will be part of an overhaul of the state pension, to be included in the Queen's Speech on Wednesday.

Norman Cudmore, a British expat who lives in the Philippines with his wife who was born there, said his spouse will be left with nothing once he dies.
