Police appeal for calm after Woolwich killing
The Metropolitan Police have appealed for calm following the killing of a soldier in a suspected terror attack outside Woolwich Barracks.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was hacked to death by two men shouting Allahu Akbar (God is Great).
Two men were shot by police at the scene and remain under arrest in hospital - one in a serious condition.
Assistant Commissioner Simon Byrne said an extra 1200 police officers were on duty in the capital.
