Early death data 'surprising', says Jeremy Hunt

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt says variations in early death rates across England show action is needed to identify health challenges.

He said he hoped areas with high early death rates would be spurred on to look at areas with lower rates and see how they could improve.

Public Health England's Longer Lives website, which ranks local authorities, shows people in north-west England are at the greatest risk of dying early.
