UK heatwave: Hottest day for seven years recorded

Monday has been the hottest day in the UK since July 2006 - with temperatures hitting more than 33.5 degrees Centigrade at Heathrow.

The heat is expected to give way to thunderstorms and cooler temperatures over the coming days ending the longest heatwave for seven years.
