Bryant: 'Local workers undercut, migrants exploited'

Labour MP Chris Bryant has defended comments in a speech leaked to newspapers, in which some of the UK's biggest retailers are accused of favouring eastern European workers over Britons.

Speaking the BBC, the shadow immigration minister said that some "unscrupulous employers" exploited migrant workers while undercutting the local labour market.

But he denied that he was accusing Tesco and Next of such practices, despite citing examples of their conduct in the speech.
