Housing market on 'road to recovery' says RICS

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has published a survey from July, which suggests "the UK housing market appears to have finally turned a corner".

Peter Bolton King, Global Residential Director of RICS, told the Today programme: "We have been monitoring this very carefully, and [the increase in property prices] is definitely now spreading out from London and the south-east, and this is the first time in a long time we're recording increased activity everywhere within the country.

"We feel the Funding For Lending scheme has made the big difference, and then you've got Help To Buy on top of that.

"We're on the road to recovery - we're not talking about massive jumps but we predict slow house price inflation over the next few years."

First broadcast on the Today programme on Tuesday 13 August.
