Rising house prices 'terrible news' says Moneyweek editor
The government has welcomed data from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors that suggests both the number of buyers entering the property market and house prices are increasing sharply.
The institution said the upturn was being particularly felt in areas of the UK that had seen the biggest drops after the recession.
However, speaking to the the Today programme's Evan Davis, Merryn Somerset Webb, editor-in-chief of Moneyweek, outlined why she thought that rising house prices were actually "terrible news" for people who did not own their a home.
The more houses cost, the harder it would be for people to enter the market, she explained.
