No 10 contacted Guardian over Edward Snowden secrets
It has emerged that David Cameron ordered Britain's most senior civil servant to contact the Guardian in an attempt to limit revelations about American and British intelligence operations.
The Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy Heywood was asked to intervene after the newspaper obtained secret information from the whistleblower Edward Snowden.
The Guardian's editor, Alan Rusbridger, has said his paper subsequently destroyed computer hard drives storing the information.
