Miranda court ruling 'a partial victory'

A lawyer acting for a Brazilian man, who was stopped and had material seized under anti-terror laws, has described a court injunction as a "partial victory".

David Miranda, the partner of a Guardian journalist who exposed secret information on US surveillance, was stopped at Heathrow airport on Sunday.

Mr Miranda's lawyers sought an injunction to prevent the government and police accessing his laptop, mobile phone, memory cards and DVDs.

Judges have said the material can be examined by the government and police, but only for national security purposes.

Speaking after the case, Gwendolen Morgan from law firm Bindmans said the injunction was a "partial victory".
