Catholic church survey: Archbishop Nichols on 'new challenges'
The leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales has welcomed a move to survey members about how it deals with issues such as contraception and gay marriage.
The Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols praised Pope Francis for launching the unprecedented questionnaire earlier this month.
He said: "Society has moved to a different perspective on some issues and that means often that those who wish to follow Christ don't have the support of the wider society in which they live."
