London slave case: Met Police say women 'had degree of freedom'

Three women suspected of being held as slaves at a south London house for 30 years did have "a degree of freedom", police say.

Det Insp Kevin Hyland, from the Metropolitan Police's human trafficking unit, says the women were likely to have experienced "psychological control", which prevented them from trying to escape sooner.

He compared the case to others involving Stockholm syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), saying the women were held by "invisible handcuffs".
