Will Young: Teach children what 'gay' really means

The singer Will Young has called on schools and parents to educate children about the misuse of the word "gay".

The singer said the term is now often used in a negative way and can cause distress to young people.

In discussion with the journalist Milo Yiannopoulos on the BBC's Newsnight programme he said: "If someone is being offensive to someone else, that should be highlighted and pointed out."
