Household fuel bills to rise less steeply than expected

Household fuel bills will rise less steeply than planned after the government promised to cut the green taxes imposed on energy firms.

British Gas and SSE say they will pass the savings on to customers, meaning bills will be around £50 lower than expected.

Npower said its prices would not now rise until 2015 unless there were increases in wholesale energy costs.

John Moylan reports.
