IPCC vows robust investigation into Ian Watkins claims

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating three forces over their handling of allegations made about paedophile Ian Watkins between 2008-2012.

Watkins, 36, lead singer of the band Lostprophets, from Pontypridd, pleaded guilty to 13 child sex offences at Cardiff Crown Court in November.

South Yorkshire, Bedfordshire and south Wales are being investigated over information received about Watkins prior to his arrest in December 2012.

The IPCC Commissioner for Wales, Jan Williams, said it was very important to have a "thorough, robust investigation" to find out exactly what actions police took with the information they received and to establish if Watkins could have been stopped sooner.
