Army recruitment policy under 'pressure'

The has Army launched a £3m campaign to boost regular and reserve forces.

It comes at a time when the Army is being cut from 100,000 troops to some 82,000, but the Ministry of Defence says it needs new recruits.

It wants to increase the size of the Army Reserve from 19,000 to 30,000, but has failed to meet its targets so far.

Shadow defence secretary Vernon Coaker said Labour supported the governments's army reform policy on the basis that it would work, but said they should pause for reflection before continuing with the plan.
