Hillsborough survivor: I had to stand on him to get out
Survivors of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster have come forward for the first time to tell how officers from West Midlands police intimidated them and did not properly record their statements.
The force declined to comment pending further investigations and the forthcoming inquests into the deaths.
"John", who was 17 at the time, talks to Peter Marshall - who was himself at Hillsborough - and gives a graphic account of how he managed to escape the crush, how he went on to join the police and how the trauma of Hillsborough led to a suicide attempt years later.
Watch Peter Marshall's film on Newsnight on Monday 3 February 2014 at 22:30 GMT on BBC Two, and then afterwards on the BBC Newsnight website and BBC iPlayer.
