Victim's family 'cheated' as killer gets day release

The sister of a heavily pregnant woman stabbed to death by her boyfriend has criticised the decision to allow her killer to be allowed out on day release.

Abi Ilumoka was beaten and stabbed to death in June 2008 in her London home by Benjamin Anabah, who was in Britain illegally.

Mr Anabah, who admitted manslaughter with diminished responsibility, was detained in a secure psychiatric hospital and allowed escorted leave after five years, as part of his treatment.

Abi's sister Yemi told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "There hasn't been any justice... we were totally cheated out of him going into the prison system."

In a statement, the Ministry of Justice said it did not comment on individual cases but insisted decisions to allow escorted leave were made in consultation with doctors and involved a thorough risk assessment.
