Ed Miliband visits UK troops in Afghanistan

A Labour government would impose stiff penalties on anyone who abused or discriminated against members of the armed forces, the party's leader has said.

On a visit to Afghanistan, Ed Miliband said maintaining strong armed forces, was "an absolute commitment".

But he declined to rule out future cuts to the military, saying Labour would have to "look at the strategic needs of the country".
