How should the UK deal with coastal erosion?

Heavy storms and high tides this winter have had a lasting effect on the UK's coastline. So what is the best way to protect damaged areas in the future?

The country's largest landowner The National Trust is calling for more discussion on the options as it manages the 702 miles (1130km) of coastline under its care.
