Romania and Bulgaria migration figures explained
There were 140,000 Romanians and Bulgarians employed in the UK in the first three months of 2014 after visa controls were lifted, figures show.
The BBC's Mark Easton said the statistics show the wave of Bulgarian and Romanian workers who had been predicted to arrive in the country at the start of the year "clearly hasn't happened".
The number of workers from those countries employed in the UK was down by 4,000 compared to the final quarter of 2013, before visa controls had been lifted.
