Romania restrictions lifted: EU rules relaxed for workers

From today Romanians and Bulgarians can work without restrictions across the European Union.

Transitional controls were imposed on the two countries when they joined the EU in 2007, with member states like Britain only allowing workers in some fields.

The lifting of the measures has prompted fears of mass migration from the bloc's poorest countries.
