Nick Clegg: 'Prince Charles is free to express himself'
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has said Prince Charles "is free to express himself" following reports that the royal compared President Putin to Hitler during a private conversation.
Former Polish war refugee Marienne Ferguson said the prince likened some Nazi actions in Europe to those of Russia's Vladimir Putin when they met at a Nova Scotia immigration museum.
Mr Clegg told BBC Breakfast he had never been of the view that, "if you're a member of the royal family you have to enter a Trappist vow of silence".
