Stephen Lawrence murder: IPCC to investigate officers

An investigation into the conduct of Metropolitan Police officers following the murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence has been welcomed by his mother Doreen and her solicitor Imran Khan.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission will examine the behaviour of the head of the Met's counter-terrorism unit Cdr Richard Walton, who is alleged to have obtained information from a police spy about the Lawrence family, "potentially undermining" the inquiry.

Mr Khan told the BBC said Baroness Lawrence wanted an investigation, and "results which show the IPCC has got teeth".
