NUS: 'Students have been lied to'

More than 20,000 students complained to their universities last year, a Freedom of Information request has shown.

Responses from 120 universities across the UK revealed that total academic appeals and complaints were 10% higher in 2012-13 than in 2010-11.

Speaking to the BBC, Raechel Mattey from the NUS said that students "have been lied to".

She also suggested that there was a "false expectation" that standards would be higher following the rise in tuition fees.
