Access to information on care homes 'critically important'

More than 30 recommendations have been made after a scandal-hit care home in West Sussex saw 19 unexplained deaths.

A serious case review said "ineffectual action plans" were not acted on and that relatives had been forced to make decisions "without the full information of what was going on at Orchid View".

Nick Georgiou, author of the report, said it was "critically important" to ensure relatives of any care home residents - or potential residents - had "the best possible information" when making key decisions.
