Potholes could be fixed by £1bn fuel duty share

One billion pounds per year should be taken from the duty collected on fuel and used to fix Britain's crumbling roads, the Local Government Association has said.

The organisation, which represents hundreds of councils in England and Wales, says 2p per litre of existing fuel duty could help clear the national backlog of road repairs within a decade.
