Crime in the rural economy up 5% says NFU Mutual

Rural crime in the UK has risen by more than 5% in the last year, according to latest figures from a farm insurance company.

Insurers NFU Mutual say the cost of crime to the rural economy reached more than £44m in 2013.

An increase in sheep rustling and the theft of farm equipment contributed to the rise.
