End of the road for car tax discs

For the first time in almost 100 years drivers in the UK no longer need to display a paper tax disc in their windscreen.

To pay their road tax, motorists now need to register their car at a Post Office or online.

But thousands of customers have already encountered difficulties trying to pay using the new system, after the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) website has been swamped.
